We offer a part time programme starting this summer in British Columbia, with the first session running from June 29 to July 18, 2008. We are currently accepting applications.

This four year programme will consist of 3 weeks of classes in the summer and five days of classes both in the Fall and Spring. Students will be assigned independent study between these sessions, as well as mentoring and practicum placements. Each session will include Foundation Studies and curriculum studies integrated with extensive artistic practice. These sessions may be conducted in different locations to distribute the cost of travel and housing.

We anticipate the cost for each year will be comparable with the Waldorf Early Childhood Teacher Training Program of $4635, with a one-time application fee of $100.

This programme will meet the Waldorf teacher education needs of the following people: Currently practicing teachers in Waldorf schools who do not yet have Waldorf teacher training; Public school teachers who wish to enter an innovative field of education as provided in Waldorf education; Waldorf teaching assistants who wish to upgrade to full teaching status; Those in our school communities, parents for example, who would like to train as Waldorf teachers; Those at a junction point in their life who would like to study Anthroposophy and Waldorf education.

Recognition that a part time Waldorf teacher training programme is needed in Canada is well known. This program will complement the Sound Circle Program, to serve those who live too far from Seattle to be able to participate there. With this programme offering, the WCI is responding to the many requests from local Waldorf schools and initiatives, from interested individuals, from currently practicing teachers, the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and from the Association’s Teacher Education Network that advises all teachers in member Waldorf schools be trained, or be in the process of training. We intend to provide an excellent Waldorf teacher training program that will support the continuing excellence of Waldorf education.
